Ok folks, pay attention cause this is a little complicated. I am reacting to the rash of injuries my team has suffered. Therefore,
I release Drew Doughty
I active Mike Green Off the IR
I release Mike Green
I place Sidney Crosby back on IR
I sign Steven Weiss
I sign John Carlson
Waste of talent. Drew Doughty hasn't figured out that the NHL season has started yet, Mike Green is made of glass, and the little mouse fell off the wheel in Crosby's head again.

Wow Shyla.......all that shopping and it's not even boxing day............by the way...........thanks again for the great time...........best Christmas ever..............
I cannot believe the injuries....unbelievable. With all the suspensions for hits and head shots, it doesn't seem to be even close to working. Not always a big fan of Don Cherry, it's time to boot Bettman and make Cherry the commissioner. Get rid of the Kevlar and carbon fible body armour. The only padding allowed should be cloth fabric only. Make it so the guy throwing the check or crashing the boards will actually feel it and hurt himself also. Get rid of the new blade technology, new ice technology and slow down the game a bit in favour of skill instead of speed. Bring back the bench clearing brawls and protect your stars. And teach your players to keep their heads UP. Holy shit, how many players have been injured running into their own fucking players this year? If something isn't done soon we'll be looking at all the NHL star players with Muhammed Ali syndrome. Interesting note today on Sportsnet, Bobby Orr played his final NHL game at the age of 27, how long will Crosby play at this rate? This is getting ridiculous.
Need to make adjustments SHYLA.
release Pronger and sign Souray
release Jokinnen and sign Evander Kane
release Ryan Kesler and sign Nugent-Hopkins (I think this rookie is for real)

You would think that the NHL would do a better job protecting it's players. Here is a list of players that had their careers ended due do poor player protection, Howie Morenz, Bobby Orr, Pat Lafontaine, Eric Lindros, Cam Neely, Pierre Mondou, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux, Ace Bailey, Steve Moore, Keith Primeau. The list goes on....Here is an amazing fact Cam Neely and Pierre Mondou had their careers ended by Ulf Samuelsson. How does that happen? And he still continued to play with a slap on the wrist.
It has nothing to do with lack of respect anymore. Bobby Orr would be out for life in his first season if he played today. The players are massive, and faster each year. When Eric Lindros was drafted he was a freak of nature. at 18 he was 6'4" and 225lbs. There are players today that are bigger and faster. They wear body armour. And run into each other at high speeds, into wood boards, the net, smack each other with sticks. The solution to the problem was simple. And I had the solution 20 years ago. When all these teams started building these new arena's, they needed to give these players more room. International Ice would fix most of these problems that we have today. The Ice surface is bigger and this is what today's players need.
My views on hockey is very different then most. I do not believe fighting has a place in hockey. The NHL should protect it's players. Not a team enforcer. This leaves more roster spaces for skill and beauty. There is nothing wrong with a big hit or grinding it out on the boards, and both have their place in hockey but someone, anyone tell what is wrong in the NHL today?
My Vote: Ice surface is too small.
BTW: I will do the changes before the games tonight.

Even Gretzky could be on that list even though his carreer lasted a bit longer. His spine and back are a mess to this day.
I'll agree with the ice surface idea, makes good sense but remove the technology also. Give them back the old fashioned technology skates and remove the armor plating. If they dislocate their shoulder trying to deliver that hit that puts the competition out of the game, chances are they will earn a bit of respect for the other guy. Thats what has left the game, respect for the other guys. They used to fight on the ice and drink beers together afterwaeds in the old days.

Yes.........today's players are bigger and faster.........so what do they do?........make their equipment stronger and harder..........I rember Don Cherry talking about today's elbow pads........my God, they look like something out of Sparticus........I remember the days when players didn't wear helmets and their padding looked like it was made of newspaper..........the injuries in those days seemed less than they are today........Players today have no respect for the other guy.........drill him throught the boards seems to be the modus operandi.........Shanahan's suspensions and fines does not seem to be having an effect...............
I don't really like Cherry. He's hit or miss. Plus as a Canadiens fan we all know that if Don Cherry cannot count to five. I have seen him say smart things that make sense, and things so stupid you wonder what type of redneck is this guy.
The equipment is a problem. But maybe the time for severe punishment. Along time ago a friend of mine came to solution of this problem.
If you injure another player you are suspended for the time that the league suspends you and before that takes effect, you are suspended for the time the player is injured. Players hurting other players are also responsible for the other players salary.
Larger Ice surfaces avoid player bumping into each other. Today, player are encouraged towards the "Big Hit". The fans love it. It helps ratings and it is dangerous. On the international ice surface the big hit and hitting in general is difficult as it will take you out of position.
If we had listened to Mario and Wayne a lot of these problems would have been gone already. Why did we not see a problem when Eric Lindros's head got turned into swiss cheese by Scott Stevens? Was it because the league saw Lindros as a Baby? Fights with the Quebec Organization and Bobby Clarke didn't help his image. Why didn't the league protect Lindros? Because it needs the violence. In the 72 super series...why did Canada win? Heart? Paul Henderson? No. That is what you are meant to think. The russians had a player called..Valeri Kharlamov. I did not watch this series live as...I was not yet born. But look back at what happened. Kharlamov was running all over Canada. Bobby Clarke broke his ankle. That was the turning point...
BTW: 2 players from that series made it to the IIHF Centenial team. Kharlamov and Tretiak.
