  • I agree with most of what you're saying, no question Cherry is now a buffoon. He was a smart man when he was coaching and now he's a figure head that gets ratings from the controversy he himself creates....moments of genius and then there's the other part. Scott Stevens made a carreer out of hurting people and I know he finished Lindros, but Lindros had so many other incidents with his head that Stevens only really iced it. Never did respect Lindros after the spitting beer incident. That and the issues you speak of are what's keeping him out of the Hall.

Even at the junior level, rookies are judged by their toughness. Coaches and scouts are likely to keep the rookie that gets in a fight at practice with a seasoned player. I agree....make the ice bigger and remove the armor and let's see where it goes.

I notice your Habs have a new defenceman!

Kaberle...Not really complaining there. He fits in Montreal. Overpaid and doesn't hit. Who's your team 69er?

I figure Crag likes the Nucks', Mitsu is a Habs fan and you?

But.... Under my system Lindros would have never got to that point. Would you want to end the career of someone knowing that it might cost you not only your career but you would be responsible for the reminder of his contract. If player have no respect for each other, this will teach them respect.

Players will become aware. Would it avoid freak accidents like want happened to Berard when Hossa's stick hit him hit in the eye. No but maybe the extra space the international Ice would have helped.

I'm a die hard be-Leafer. You are justified being from Quebec to be a Habs fan. Anyone has to admire what Montreal has accomplished with their hockey program. People in Ontario that are Habs fans are really disgruntled Leaf fans that don't know the meaning of COMMITMENT!

I'm now living in Toronto, but I would never pick for the Leaves (plural for Leaf).......Aside from Kessel.........who else do they have?......Commitment you say?.........what a joke........44 years and counting since they last saw the "Cup"......There are a lot of transplanted Montrealers now living in Toronto who wouldn't dream of rooting for those Leaves..........disgruntled?...........what a laugh......It should be the Leaf fans who should be disgruntled..............

              Mitsu.
Growing up the nearest NHL franchise to me was Detroit. You basically had two choices back then, you were a Leaf fan or a Wings fan. Seemed kind of unpatriotic to support the Wings. There were very few Red Wings fans from my area and Toronto became Canada's team in our area. Even until today when you look around the league in NHL arenas you will see more Blue and White than anything else. I've watched, followed and admired many other teams over the years (Habs included) but will always root for the Leafs. Unfortunately Toronto's management will never be as committed as their fans.

Not a fan of Kessel but he is putting up numbers so far, doubt that it'll hold.

              • Management is the Problem.

                BUT....

I like Burke and Wilson. Ballard fucked the Leaf's with his stance. I never liked the fact that the teachers union owned the Leaf's. It was more keen on profits then on winning. The new ownership should be better.

Now if you guys stop trading your draft picks and top prospects away it really might help.

Luongo, Neidermayer, Damphousse, Rask, Boyle, Seguin, Bernie Parent, Lanny MacDonald, Larry Murphy, Modin, Sittler, Russ Courtnall, Sullivan...That is a scary list. Nevermind the bad drafting. Between bad trades, bad drafting, weak GM's, and a very annoying media there is little patience from the fans to build a team. Seguin is looking like a gem, so do us a favour. Tell you GM to stop any trades with the Bruins. The rest of the league is getting sick of you being the Bruins farm team. Rask, Seguin....who's next?

The three moves that have always blown me away were Kurvers, Luongo and Kessel. I never understood the Kessel trade so can someone explain that one to me. Kessel was a RFA. Boston did not have the Cap Space to sign him. So instead of signing him they traded for him. Except that it cost 1 extra 1st round pick to trade for him.

Hmm...forget it. You have never had a player the caliber of Patrick Roy. And since I cannot explain anything that happened during the Rejean Houle period...I will shut up about Kessel.

They have made some stupid moves. The Leafs invented the cap. They didn't need to have high salaries to make all the money. There fans are everywhere and they continue to support.

Shyla, have you been to any of the classic arenas for a game, I'm sure you've been to the Forum, but have you been to Maple Leaf Gardens, the Gardens in Boston or Madisson Square?
Are you kidding me?.........Name some of the Leaves who could make an all-star team?......Stajan, Ponikorosky?........give me a break...........

As a Fan, I have been to the ACC and LSG, the Forum, Boston Garden, MSG and Chicago Stadium. Baseball I have been to Wrigley, Fenway and Yankee Staduim (the old one). I missed Tiger Stadium. NFL I have been to Lambeau field, Soldiers field, Candlestick park and Giants Stadium. I hate basketball so...whatever.

                      On my Bucket List:

                      2012 Brazil Eco-Stadium
2014 World Cup Game in The Maracan? in Brazil
                      Anafield, Liverpool England
                      Stamford Bridge, Chelsea, England
                      Old Tafford, Manchester, England
                      Bernabeu, Madrid, Spain
                      Nou Camp, Barcelona, Spain
                      San Siro, Milan, Italy
                      Azteca, Mexico City, Mexico.

I have thought about May Day Stadium, but not too sure about going to North Korea
The old Detroit venues were something to behold, the Olympia and Tiger Stadium was unbelievable especially when they were trying to save it. Good bucket list you have. Add to your list the ball park in St Louis, it's beautiful but the ambiance at the bars and clubs after the game is totally amazing. Very humid there in the summer though, you will need mucho beers to fight the heat and humidity.

BTW: Salming was the greatest leaf ever

Hey now that we are talking all time teams. Let's play a game. If you were to play a game of hockey for all the marbles, and you were allowed to select 6 players for any era or League. Who would you pick?

I already have 75 brand new Brazil jerseys I'm planning to sell in Canada before then.

I've been to many stadiums the only one of note is probably the Super dome.

Gretzky - The Great One ...Nuff Said
Kharlamov - If you spell Gretzky in Russian it spells Kharlamov
Bossy - I have never seen anyone score like him
Orr - The Greatest Defensemen ever No argument
Fetisov - The Russians cloned Orr...they called it Fetisov
Tretiak - The first player NEVER to play an NHL game but is in the NHL Hall of Fame

                                Honorable Mention:

Mario Lemieux - If Gretzky were not surrounding by great players, and if injuries had not taken their toll, this man was the perfect hockey player.

Sergie Makorov - I saw him play in the 80s...WOW!

Bobby Hull - Brett was nothing compared to his Dad.

Doug Harvey - Before Orr there was Harvey

Boris Salming - I would have named Lidstrom. But if Salming never played, chances are that neither would Lidstrom

Patrick Roy - Cocky, a bitch...and no man has won more Playoff MVP's

Edit: Patrick Roy just called me and told me that he can't see what I am writing because there is 4 stanley cup rings blocking his view of the screen.
