With Vic's post, this thread has officially gone from mildly foolish to completely ridiculous.
Anyone who's experienced prejudice and discrimination should be able to identify it when it comes from their own mouths. You know what? EVERYBODY experiences discrimination at some point, at the hands of someone ignorant. Even white, straight, able-bodied males experience it from time to time, though not nearly as often as the rest of us.
You don't think we deal with discrimination, prejudice and violence? You go tell that to Gwen Araujo, or Cassandra Do, or any of the thousands of trans people who have been murdered simply for being themsel ves. Go to www.rememberingourdead.org if you need a refresher course on the discrimination that leads to our deaths on a daily basis.
When was the last time you got fired from your job for being black? My former boss removed me from my position of Sales Manager and Marketing Director after I started my transition, because she thought that customers would judge our product negatively because of the person representing it. Attitudes like yours simply prove that she was right. After a pay cut, reduction of hours, and a lot of harassment on the job, I was eventually terminated because she "wasn't comfortable" having me in the office.
Nope, I've never been called a nigger or a spic or a packy; I've been called bitch, faggot, queer, and freak, instead - don't those count as slurs? Don't those words hold the same vitriol and hate as the ones you mentioned? It's even better when those same words come from the mouth of your own father - has your dad ever called you any of those slurs?
It doesn't matter how passable or attractive you are, either; if your presentation is female, but your ID says male, you're still going to experience problems. I've been harassed by cops too; I got pulled over with a male friend of mine in the car, and the cop asked him if he was my pimp. I've been stopped and questioned simply for walking down the street at 1am, wearing jeans and a sweater, and the cops accused me of working the corner. So don't tell me we don't experience discrimination, because it's very real to everyone in our community.
So Obama is going to be President, and good for him. How many trans politicians are there? How many trans cops, trans teachers, trans judges, and trans CEO's are there? Even if they exist as passable members of their identified gender, that means they have to go into hiding, pretend their pasts never existed, and are potentially subjected to blackmail if someone finds out.
In a further display of ignorance, you seem to think this is a CHOICE. It isn't. The only choice for us is being oursel ves, or blowing our brains out of our skulls. And sadly, a lot of us take that second option instead, because of that same discrimination you don't think we experience. We have just as much choice in our gender identity as we do in our ethnicity and skin colour: NONE.
We might be treated nicely on a tgirl forum, or in a tranny club, or by the men that fuck us for money, but that's an incredibly small portion of society. Ask us how much fun it is to get our cars fixed, or apply for a mortgage, or a job - the sex industry is the only place that we receive any respect. Why do you think so many of us end up here? Because nobody else wants anything to do with us.
I do it because I genuinely enjoy it, and it's a great way to pay my tuition, but many of us simply have no other choice. I was talking to a girl just two days ago that told me she turned a trick because she had no job, no food in her fridge, and her rent was coming up in 5 days. She looked like she had just been run over by a Mack Truck, but she did what she had to do to survive. She said to me, "I never thought I would actually do that" just before the tears started to flow down her face. Have you ever fucked someone for food and shelter? I highly doubt it, so don't go thinking it's all glitz and glamour in this business.
Finally, let's take a look at the most prejudiced comment in the entire thread:
Your hypocricy knows no bounds. You claim prejudice, then display it in its most blatant form. If we're so nasty, why the hell are you on this forum? How can you judge all of us based on the words of the few? If that's not the dictionary definition of prejudice, I don't know what is.
I'm done with this thread before it becomes a "we're-more-discriminated-against-than-you-are" dramafest, but a few things before I go:
Shelby - see who you want to see, it's your right and privilege.
Kblack - I'm sorry you were sad from Shelby's ad, but fortunately there are plenty of hot TS's that don't care what colour you are. We'll treat you like a king if you treat us with respect; that's all we care about.
Vic - If you think we have a choice about who we are, or that we're nasty people, then move on to your next kink, and get the fuck out of our forum. You're not welcome here, and that's not because of your skin colour - it's because of your stupidity.
That's it for me - you guys can argue over who experiences more discrimination, while I'm out there fighting it in ALL forms.
