The most fun I ever had at a ball game was at old Tiger stadium when the Blue Jays were hot and SkyDome was relatively new. I made a trade with a friend for 2 BJ tickets for 4 Tiger box seat tickets. The tickets were about 10 yards from the batters box and we were in a pit about chest deep. It was when they were trying to save the old stadium, good food, entertainment and a really fun time.


Not $12 for a Mac Dog and a pop.

I remember watching the Habs play the Soviet Red Army team back in 1975 (yeah I am old). Dryden in one end, Tretiak in the other. I was big Habs fan back then though I remember being impressed by the soviet style of play. It had more finesse and seemed more exciting than watching the Canadiens do battle with the Broad Street Bullies (for example). Tretriak was just amazing to watch.

Of course now I cheer for the 'Nucks. (Despite them being the kings of choke at times.)

Well, in his defence, he was more used to people running him over and trying to hack the puck into the net (70's Philly/Boston style). The whole pass, carry, and then blister an accurate shot from the slot was sort of a novel idea for the NHL at the time

I have watched those games that you speak about. Canadiens-Russian New Years Eve, 3-3 tie. The Russians leaving the ice, I was 3 when Gretzky dropped a pass to Lemieux. Since that moment...hockey balanced out. Sundin was drafted first overall, Russians defected, then the USSR fall...Jagr dominated the 90s. I love the russian style. Different way of thinking. I have always liked the European stars. There skill level is sick. Maybe this is why I favour the international ice surface. No Trap, more skill and speed.

I doubt I could improve at all on your picks - they seem tight. Especially if the game would be held on an international ice surface. If it was regulation NHL I might look to bring in a solid checker.

I remember watching the Great One before the Oilers even entered the NHL. I grew up in Edmonton and I would sometimes go down and watch the games back when they were still in the WHA. Of course, once they joined the NHL, my allegiance switched pretty quick to the Oilers (from the Habs).

Unfortunately, by the time Gretzky and the boys were winning the cup, I was already in the Navy (Canadian). So I never got to attend any of the playoff games.
